Genealogy of the ancestors and descendants of the family of Henry (C) Pratt of Philadelphia, by H.P. 1761-1838
Captain Henry Pratt sailed between London & Phila. about the time of Wm. Penn's first settlement in Penna.; was the son of Henry Pratt, a noted pewterer of the City of London, and brought a wife from Boston to Phila. of the name of Hannah Hobart, by whom he had three children, viz: Matthew, Hannah and Henry, and after the death of the said Captain Pratt said widow married Mr. Meredith and left one son Charles Meredith a merchant of Phila., who married Mary Chappel by whom he left four daughters, viz: Mary, married to Daniel Dupy, Silversmith & Jeweller, second, Hannah, married to John M. Taylor, and fourth Nancy - The Widow Meredith afterwards married Edward Stiles.
Matthew Pratt, (son of the above named Henry and Hannah), died single and lies buried in Christ Church Burial ground in Arch St.
Hannah married Richard Sewell Esq. of Phila. Merchant and Sheriff of the City and County of Phila. by whom she had two children, Thomas, who died aged about 14 yrs., and Hannah, died a maiden.
Henry, born in Phila. 30th April, 1708, and brought up a silversmith and jeweller, he was married in Christ Church on May 1st 1729 to Rebecca Claypoole (daughter of Joseph Claypoole of London, cabinet-maker, and one of the first settlers in Phila., who left a very numerous offspring) who was born in Phila. on November 26th, 1711. He died January 31st, 1748/9 aged 40 years 9 mo's and she died Aug. 1st, 1762 aged 50 yrs., and 8 mos. having borne the said Henry ten children, viz: twins - two boys, died a few hours after birth in 1730.
Hannah - born at 10 o'clock in the morning on April 3rd 1732 and who married Captain Enoch Hobart, a Jamaica merchant by whom she had 8 or 10 children.
Matthew, born at 8 o'clock in the morning of September 23rd, 1734, was christened at Christ Church at six years of age by Rev'd Doctor Jennings and died January 1805 of a mortification.
Rebecca - born at 4 o'clock in the afternoon on August 27th, 1736, who married Mr. Wetherell, a Sadler in Abington Maryland.
Joseph, born at 10 o'clock in the evening on 11th March, 1739, and died in Santa Cruz.
Deborah, born at 10 o'clock in the morning on 22nd October, 1741 and died young.
Charles, born between 13th and 14th November 1743, and was buried 1st December 1758, aged 15 years.
Thomas, born 10 o'clock in the morning on 29th January, 1745, married at New York two wives; by the first he had 3 children, two of which are married, viz: Rebecca to ---- Cambell (a Blacksmith) settled in Philadelphia, and Margaret to John Valance, an Engraver (likewise settled in Philadelphia).
Deborah - born at 9 o'clock at night on April 7th 1746 and married to Daniel Ruff of Abington Maryland.
Matthew Pratt, son of Henry Pratt and Rebeccca Pratt was born on the 23rd of September 1734 and was married 6th August 1760 to Elizabeth Moore (daughter of Charles Moore, born in Ireland 24th August 1710, came to Phila. abt. year 1730 and died of a dropsy Dec. 17th 17778 aged about 65 years) who was born 4th May 1739. He died 9th January 1805 of a mortification, and she 7th of July 1777, having born the said Matthew six children, viz:---
Henry (Charles) Pratt, born at Philadelphia on 14th May 1761, christened by the Rev. Thomas Barton of Lancaster - his God Father.
Charles - born 10th September 1763, died 25th Aug. 1764.
Charles -- born 19th February 1769, died 11th Aug. 1770.
Mary -- born on 20th July 1771 and married Sunday October 5 1788 by the Rev. Joseph Rimore at St. Paul's Church to Wm. Fernel.
Thomas -- born at New York on 1st October 1775 and was married to Hannah Thomas of Merion by the Rev. Samuel Magen on the 2nd January 1794
Elizabeth -- born in Pine Street on 2nd of August 1776 and was married in the same house on 26th March 1795 by the Rev. Dr. Smith to Wm. Shaw.
Henry (c) Pratt, son of Matthew and Elizabeth Pratt was born 14th May 1761 and was married on 22nd June 1778 to Frances Moore (daughter of Richard Moore) who dies on 9th May 1785, aged 28 years, by whom he had the following children:
Thomas H Pratt, son of Henry and Frances Pratt was born Sept. 18th 1779 at 6 o'clock in the morning on third Street next door to the Bunch of Grapes Tavern and died of a consumption 18th June 1812, aged 32 years 9 mo's.
Elizabeth was born Thursday 24th May 1781 at 10 o'clock in the morning and was married to Dr. Benjamin Lugler by the Rt. Rev. Bishop White.
Henry was born 18th November 1782 and died 13th July 1784, aged 19 months 26 days.
Frances Henrietta was born 25th August 1784 at 11 o'clock at night and died 17th July 1785 at 10 o'clock at night, aged 10 mo. 25 days.
Henry Pratt was married to his second wife Elizabeth Dundas, daughter of James Dindas, by the Rt. Rev. Bishop White on 27th October 1785. She was born on the 28th of January, 1764 and died 15th September, 1793, aged 29 yeaars 7 months 18 days, by whom he had the following children:
Mary Ann daughter of Henry and Eliizabeth Pratt, was born 3rd August 1786, and died 18th August aged 15 days.
Anna Marie was boen Saturday, September 15th, 1787, 5 minutes before 4 o'clock in the morning, and was married to James H Dundas, Att'y. at law, on 14th Sept. 1809.
James Dundas Pratt was born on Thursday 23rd of April, 1769 at 10 past 9 o'clock in the morning, and was married to Ann Taylor, daughter of Benjamin Taylor, on 25th Oct., 1810.
Henry was born 15th October 1790, and died 3rd March 1791.
Sarah Clementina was born 1st December 1791, and was married to Thomas McKean Jr., son of Governor McKean, on 14th September 1809.
Henry was born on Fiday, 13th September, 1793, and died on 26th same month, aged 15 days.
Henry Pratt was married to his third wife Susannah Care, daughter of Peter and Barbara Care, by the Rt. Rev. Bishop White on 11th September 1794. She was born on the 3rd day of March 1776, by whom he had the following children:
Edmond Pratt, son of Henry and Susannah Pratt, was born Wednesday the 15th of February 1797, at half past twelve o'clock at noon, in Front near Race St.
Henry, son of Henry and Susannah Pratt, was born on the 6th of December, 1798, and died on the 5th of January, 1807.
Charles Moore, son of Henry and Susannah Pratt, was born on Monday morning, 7th July, 1800, in Front near Race St.
Amanda , daughter of Henry and Susannah Pratt, was born in Front near Race St, on Wednesday 21st April 1802 and died april 9th 1804.
James Dundas Pratt was born 23rd April 1789 at 10 minutes past nine o'clock in the morning and was married to ann Taylor (daughter of Benjamin Taylor whowas born 25th March 1750 and was married by T. Allison D.D. on 25th May 1772 to Zeady Wright who was born on the 2nd of March 1750) on 23rd October 1810, by the Rt. Rev. Bishop Wright; she was born 15th May 1795.
Emma Matilda Pratt , daughter of James and Ann Pratt, was born at 8 o'clock in the morning of the 4th September 1811, christened by the Rt. Rev. Bishop White, 15th Jan. 18813, and died 16th Jan 1813 at 20 minutes before 11 o'clock at night, aged 1 yr, 4 mo., and lies buried in Christ Church burial ground.
Adelaide Taylor Pratt, daughter of James and ann Pratt, was born on the 15th of February, 1813 about 4 o'clock in the evening.
Henry Charles Pratt, first son of James and Ann Pratt, was born on Tuesday the 19th of July 1814 at 8 o'clock in the morning.
James Dundas Pratt Jr., second son of James and Ann Pratt, was born on the 1st day of March 1816 at 8 o'clock in the evening.

Edmond Pratt, third son of Jas. D. & Ann Pratt, was born at point-no-point on 2nd MArch at 10 mintes past 10 o'clock 1818
Ann Eliza Pratt, third daughter of Jas. D. & Ann Pratt, was born at house back of #29 Elfreth's Alley on 15th Jan. 1822 at half past 3 a.m.
John Howell Pratt, 4th son of Jas. D. and Ann Pratt, and Emma Matilda, 4th daughter, were twins, born in house back of #29 Elfrith's Alley on 11th October 1824 -- John was born about 5 minutes before his sister.
A daughter, was born on 19th MArch 1827 in the house on the farm and died in a few minutes -- was buried in Christ Church yard on 20th March at 4 p.m.

Ann Pratt, wife of James D. Pratt, died at 1 o'clock on Monday morning 24th Jan. 1853 in her 60th year of age and was buried in Cedar Hill Cemetary.
James D. Pratt died at 4 o'clock on Sunday afternoon 25th of September 1853, and lies buried by the side of his beloved wife in Cedar Hill Cemetary.
Susannah, third wife of Henry Pratt, died on the 14th day of June 1816, aged 40 yrs. 3 mo. 11 days.
Elizabeth Kuyler, eldest daughter of Henry Pratt, died on the 7th day of December 1816 aged 35 yrs. 6mo. 13 days.
Susannah Theresa, daughter of Henry and Susannah Pratt, was married to Chas. F. Mayer of Balto. and in Balto. Nov. 30th 1822 & buried 1st December.
Sarah, wife of Thos. McKean died on Saturday Dec. 31st at 8 a.M. and was buried Jan. 2nd in Christ Church Yard Vault.
